Purpose

KRUS-Zapad Company produces CK-TERM industrial electrical heat tracing (EHT) systems using high-end technology, top grade materials, and a proprietary software package. Our extra long piping heat trace solutions have found use in the regions of Extreme North, seaports, oil refineries and gas processing plants, pulp and paper and chemical industry, in oil and gas fields, and many other facilities.

Extra long pipelines are more cost-effective than other similar transportation methods. A CK-CE skin-effect tracing system by KRUS-Zapad Company enables tracing pipelines of up to 30 km without a parallel supply line. The heating element consists of a 20-60 mm OD ferromagnetic steel tube with a wall thickness of min. 3.0 mm accommodating an insulated copper wire with a cross section of 10 - 50 mm2.

The tracing system maintains the temperature required to ensure a normal and continuous process. We study every detail and specifics of the process in the tracing design, and select the components paying heed to the peculiarities of the facility in question.

СК-СЕ series skin-effect tracing systems help engineer heat tracing solutions like:

  • piping freezing protection during product stoppages;

  • maintaining piping process temperature during product transfer;

  • piping warm-up prior to start-up.

Operation Concept

The heating element is a carbon steel tube with an inner induction resistance conductor. Alternating current is supplied between the tube and the conductor at the beginning of the leg, while at its end, the tube and the conductor are connected. The passing current creates a phenomenon known as “skin effect”, when current flows on the inner surface of the carbon steel tube while no voltage is observed on its outer surface, thus allowing to attach the tube directly to the pipeline. The joint between the tube and traced long pipeline is filled with special thermal paste, to increase heat transfer.

We develop solutions for the following types of pipelines:

  • buried pipelines;

  • pipeline crossings with roads;

  • pipelines in ducts and channels;

  • underwater pipelines;

  • pipelines transferring flammable fuels or other liquids;

  • heat insulated pipelines;

  • rack piping.
